Mori Seiki chose MACH 2006 to launch its new identity in the UK as Mori Seiki UK, positioning itself closer to its customers, and enabling them to take advantage of the manufacturer's 12 Technical Centres and 650 people already providing service and support for Mori Seiki machines across Europe The new identity created a great deal of interest, resulting in 1,870 recorded visitors to the stand, a record level for Mori Seiki in the UK

A major draw for visitors was the unique finance package, guaranteeing a return of £24,000 with the DuraVertical and DuraTurn machines over a 12 month period.

These two new machines, unveiled at the show, offer cost effective and affordable milling and turning whilst providing the quality, accuracy, and reliability associated with Mori Seiki.

The £24,000 offer is calculated on single shift running, uses a typical hourly rate for the industry, and is the minimum additional income customers should earn after payment of the machine rental costs.

Mori Seiki is so confident that this figure can be achieved that it will arrange for the machine to be returned if the target is not reached.

Mori Seiki focuses closely on return on investment across its full range of machines, with the aim of taking the risk out of investment and showing its customers how quickly they can achieve payback.

13 machines were sold at MACH, resulting in nearly £2 million worth of business.

Ian Burton, Joint Managing Director of B and D Patterns said, "At MACH we purchased two DuraVerticals and three NL lathes to go with our existing 16 Mori Seiki machines.

As an aerospace subcontractor we are currently very busy producing parts for fuel line assemblies.

We selected Mori Seiki for build quality, service, and reliability and to maintain compatibility with our existing machinery." Neil Wilson of Concentric Pumps praised the NH4000, "We make power steering pumps which contain some very tightly toleranced parts.

The NH4000 delivers the quality we require and reduces operations, finishing parts in one or two hits.

Having fewer setups is important to us as it results in less chance of error." Paul Coverley Managing Director of Alken Engineering purchased a NL2500 SY with sub spindle, driven tools and Y-axis on the last day of the show.

"We are a subcontracter in the power generation and automotive sector and we required unmanned operation and reliability to enable us to compete with the Far East.

The specification and build quality of the Mori Seiki was far better than the other machines we were considering, and the extra cost was much less than I was expecting, making it a very easy decision." Steve Finn of Mori Seiki UK concluded, "MACH has been a terrific show for us.

As well as the commercial success it has given us an opportunity to show our customers how working directly with Mori Seiki in the UK will provide benefits which are both worthwhile and tangible.".
