Machine tool builder Mori Seiki has entered into a collaborative agreement to develop post-processors for integrated machining centers with five leading CAM software providers.

Mori Seiki has entered into a collaborative agreement to develop post-processors for our NT Series of integrated machining centers with five of the world's leading CAM software manufacturers, UGS, CNC Software, Pathtrace, Gibbs and Associates and DP Technology Until now, when customers purchased a multi-axis machine, they had to contact the CAM software vendors or their distributors directly to ask them to develop machining programs, including the post-processors

It usually took several months until they could actually output machining programs.

Also, while CAM software manufacturers and their distributors make original post-processors for individual customers, in practice there is a lot of overlap.

Mori Seiki's collaborative development with CAM software manufacturers will help both machine tool manufacturers and CAM developers to share data and expertise directly, and will allow the developers to deliver high-quality post-processors to customers quickly through their distributors.

This collaborative development enables customers to use the default post-processors manufactured by the world's leading CAM software makers, such as UG-NX, MasterCAM, EdgeCAM, GibbsCAM, and ESPRIT, all over the world.

Customers, CAM software manufacturers and distributors will only have to do partial customization of the software, and customers won't have to wait for nearly as long before they can start machining.

Through this collaborative development between Mori Seiki and CAM software manufacturers, we have established a development and service system which will allow post-processors to be used as soon as a new model is released to the market.

Mori Seiki will continue to take the lead within the industry in providing high productivity and excellent service.
