Ultrasonics clean glass components

Glass components manufacturer now uses an ultrasonic tank containing a safer cleaning fluid, followed by a water rinse to clean glass prisms of plaster and paint.

For industries that make use of polyurethane injection moulding or casting, flushing of PU mixing heads and equipment can be done with a solvent agent instead of methylene chloride.
One of their major clean up tasks is removing Shellac, plaster of Paris and latex paint from glass prisms.
The company wished to replace its manual stripping the prisms using methylene chloride.
Mykal took the prisms and placed them in an ultrasonic tank containing Resin Cleaner (SB7) for 30 min, then rinsed with water at 40 deg C to avoid any thermal shock damaging the glass.
This was followed by another brief ultrasonic clean with water and surfactant before finally rinsing with de-ionised water.
This process successfully removed all of the plaster and paint, and as a result this company now regularly uses Mykal Resin Cleaner (SB7), said Mykal to manufacturingtalk.
