Losing tricks of the trade - prevent it happening
Trainer and researcher, Andy Pallit, seeks details of 'useful tricks of the trade' from practising and retired skilled machinists and toolmakers to pass on to today's students.
Over the past fifteen years, he has been involved in a variety of roles involving sales and marketing, technical support, training, consulting work and general management.
Most recently he was Associate Director of Wilde FEA, a firm of consulting engineers specialising in finite element analysis which he joined in 1991.
Tim will report to Paul Newton who will continue in the role of managing director on a part time basis.
"I am very pleased to welcome Tim into the NAFEMS organisation," said Nick Otter, chairman of NAFEMS, "the combination of Tim and Paul will provide NAFEMS with a very powerful management team.".
* About NAFEMS - the National Agency for Finite Element Methods and Standards (NAFEMS), was founded in 1983 with a specific objective namely: "To provide the safe and reliable use of finite element and related technology." Over the intervening years, NAFEMS has become an independent, not-for-profit, international membership association, owned by its member's.
The scope of activities spans the original finite element methods, through CFD to Optimisation.
As new application areas and techniques constantly evolve, NAFEMS becomes involved to create awareness and deliver appropriate education and training.
Today NAFEMS and its members are involved in many different types of engineering simulation covering both products and processes.
Membership continues to grow, now exceeding 700 corporate members in over 30 different countries.
Steering groups have been set up in the UK, France, Germany, and the USA to co-ordinate local activities and interaction with members.
Increasingly people view NAFEMS as a one-stop shop for all aspects of information on engineering analysis.
