High pressure coolant system is
effective
A high pressure coolant system is very effective when deep hole drilling, for breaking and clearing swarf from the machining area and for machining of difficult materials such as stainless steel.
Citizen Machinery in Japan was so impressed with the performance of the high pressure coolant system offered as an option with its CNC sliding head turn/mill centres, that it has acquired the US manufacturer Cool Blaster Systems Following the acquisition further development by Citizen and the American developer has resulted in the launch of the second generation CB 510 system exclusive to Citizen machines through NC Engineering of Watford, UK

High pressure coolant cuts automatic's cycle times
A turning shop has been able to immediately cut cycle times by 12 per cent on a highly complex stainless steel part by using a high pressure coolant system in a CNC automatic.
High pressure coolant blast slices cycle time down
By retrofitting a high pressure coolant system to its new sliding head automatic lathe, Unicut Precision has been able to reduce the cycle time on a complex 31mm dia SS parts by some 12%.
Said Geoff Bryant, managing director of NC Engineering: "With more than 110 units installed in the UK, the 2,000 lb/in2 system has proven to be a very popular option giving higher security for unmanned running.
This system is very effective when deep hole drilling, for breaking and clearing swarf from the machining area and for higher productivity machining of difficult materials such as stainless steel." The new generation system is very compact, fitting under the bar feed units.
It is fully programmable with options of five or 10 independent line feeds able to deliver up to 24.5 litres of coolant/min, an increase of 25% generated from a new continuous running 7.5kW pump.
The new pump has a five micron filter to remove swarf particles and a heat exchanger to maintain a consistent coolant temperature for improved machining stability.
In addition, a 114 litre/min booster pump with 25 micron filter is available to further improve machining efficiency.
According to Jim Cepican, general manager of Cool Blaster Systems: "So powerful is the new system that one customer in the US is even using a high pressure jet to re-cock a mechanical diehead in-cycle." Also included in the specification is a clogged filter alarm. Request a free brochure from Citizen Machinery UK ...
