HUD chassis lead-time cut by more than one half
The lead time for machining a head-up display (HUD) chassis has been reduced from 53 days to 20 by Thales Optics after installing an Okuma MA50 half-metre-cube, horizontal machining centre.
The changed structure creates a group whose assets are worth nearly Yen 160 billion, and with a turnover that makes it the second largest machine tool manufacturer in the world.
The latest development is that all O and H machines will in future bear the Okuma logo and livery, completing the absorption of O and H into the enlarged group.
Users in the UK of O and H machines, mainly vertical turning centres, machining centres and CNC lathes, will continue to receive service and back-up from NCMT, which was the O and H sole agent and conveniently also represents Okuma in Britain and Ireland.
