Presentation systems aid online measurement
Responding to increasing demands for online measurement in more complex locations, NDC Infrared Engineering has developed an innovative range of product presentation systems.
The FG710 infrared gauge is a robust, fast and precise gauge for on-line thickness measurement of biaxially orientated, cast and blown film applications.
It can continuously measure up to four product constituents simultaneously making it ideal for co-extruded (barrier) films and is capable of measuring film thickness from 12 to 5000 microns.
The gauge enables users to benefit from reduced wastage and higher product yield.

Unique to the gauging industry, the NDC Infrared Engineering FG710's ultra high resolution IR filters are manufactured by the in-house filter manufacturing operation instead of using filters from a third party.
Thanks to this, filter transmission characteristics, and consequently gauge accuracy, can be optimised to precisely match the customer's needs, rather than compromising on measurement accuracy by using third-party IR filters.
NDC Infrared Engineering's model 312 X-ray transmission gauge delivers high quality streak resolution thanks to its small spot size and high-energy flux.
The gauge is designed to exceed the measurement needs of plastics extruders, thereby ensuring superb performance.
Its digitally tuneable high voltage power supply allows for maximum sensitivity in multiple applications encompassing a thickness (basis weight) range of five to 8000 microns.
The new MiniTrak scanner family offers the same world-class scanner performance as NDC Infrared Engineering's popular Accutrak scanner but with a smaller footprint to allow easier installation where space is restricted such as sheet lines.
MiniTrak is versatile, compact, requires low maintenance and is ideal for use in harsh industrial environments.
To maximise commonality of parts and minimise operational costs, its cross web beam design can be easily adapted to either a single sided scanner (for reflectance gauges) as well as an O or C scanner (for transmission gauges).
MiniTrak's cross web beam is a 20cm x20cm 'U' design which ensures gauge stability during scanning.
An innovative twin precision rail and bearing system provides excellent X-Y-Z alignment and years of trouble free performance.
A unique sealing belt system keeps out large particulates and an optional purging and/ or explosion proofing system allows for transportation in dirty or hazardous environments respectively.
Many customers operate multiple process lines or complex processes requiring multiple scanners of different types.
With NDC Infrared Engineering's design philosophy and innovative engineering, commonality of parts across multiple scanner platforms gives a significant reduction in spares costs.
"Larger, faster and more complex production lines have resulted in the market demanding better sensor technology that provides faster measurement, excellent repeatability characteristics and higher resolution," comments Dave Atkinson, Sales and Marketing Director, NDC Infrared Engineering - Systems.
"With our many years of experience and expertise in this marketplace we are ideally placed to meet this demand and are proud to have our portfolio of proven products which deliver bottom line benefits to all our web customers on display at K2004."
