NDT Inspection and Testing , a recognised name in the industry which has been continuously trading for over 35 years, has been acquired by its management team from its former owners Royal Dutch Shell.

NDT Inspection and Testing , a recognised name in the industry which has been continuously trading for over 35 years, has been acquired by its management team from its former owners Royal Dutch Shell.

With its UK headquarters in Queensferry and with operating sites in Worcester, Sittingbourne and Caerphilly, NDT Testing and Inspection is one of the largest independent inspection service providers in the UK and offers both laboratory testing services and on-site industrial NDT, using a range of appropriate technologies.

The new management team is led by Chris Aylward and Bill Browne.

Managing director Chris Aylward has many years senior management experience in the services sector within Shell UK who acquired the company from the original founders in 2002.

Bill Browne boasts over thirty years experience in the NDT sector and was a Group Head with AEA Technology and MD of AEA Sonomatic and CATS International before becoming an independent consultant some ten years ago.

As Aylward comments, "Over the past three years under Shell's ownership and investment, we have established an excellent platform for the future development of the business, which is currently expanding at the rate of 25% per annum.

We now offer 17 fully functional X-ray bays and staffing levels have been increased with the recruitment of qualified and experienced personnel, together with the re-training and re-qualification of existing staff." Browne adds, "Apart from our unrivalled radiographic facilities, which are primarily of interest to the aerospace and automotive sectors and are continually being up-rated, we also offer state-of-the-art NDT technology for industrial applications, in disciplines from ultrasonics to eddy current testing.

Our objective now is to exploit the platform we have developed with Shell and use the considerable experience, capability and expertise we have, to take the company to the next stage of its evolution." NDT Inspection and Testing is UKAS- and Nadcap-accredited and operates from strategically located operating sites throughout the UK.

It is a centre of excellence for radiography, advanced ultrasonic imaging and a wide range of more traditional inspection services using state-of-the-art solutions to inspection problems.
