Turbine Blade Inspection Solution
Nextec Technologies 2001 has developed the WIZblade a state-of-the-art turnkey Blade Measurement Solution for finished (machined) and unfinished (forged) blades in the blade industry.
Nextec Technologies 2001, a leader in 3D non-contact laser scanning and measurement, has developed the WIZblade a state-of-the-art turnkey Blade Measurement Solution for finished (machined) and unfinished (forged) blades in the blade industry.
Nextec Technologies 2001 exhibits the WIZblade at ASME Turbo Expo 2003.( Stand 222).
This Turbine Blade Inspection Solution features Nextec's e highly acclaimed WIZprobe laser scanning probe, advanced motion controller, and WIZblade application software.
The entire process includes Automatic Alignment, stacking axis position, calculation and measurement of the relevant cross sections.
A typical Automatic Alignment Time is 50 seconds and each cross section scanning (both sides) takes around 8 seconds.
During the scanning process, the system records numerical data in real-time and displays measurement results on the screen.
The data is automatically compared to the designed data and to required tolerances.
Thus the measurement results and quality control reports are generated in real time.
Since raw data measured points are reported as well, they can be exported to any "3D CAD Compare" Dimensional Verification Software for 3D part inspection.
The alignment and measurement software handles in-process forged parts, before the datum plane and root are machined.
Alignment is exercised by using the forged pips.
The same software is used for final QC measurements - after the machining of the root and machining/grinding of the leading and trailing edges.
The software eliminates the need for a high precision and costly jig.
The "virtual jig" alignment locates and fixes the blade position.
The WIZblade is offered in a variety of standard sizes to meet customer's specific applications.
About Nextec A fully owned subsidiary of WizCom Technologies, Nextec specializes in 3D, non-contact scanning, quality control inspection and digitizing technologies.
Nextec has developed and patented a revolutionary 3D scanning technology that combines laser, innovative optics and image processing with real time adaptive control.
These serve to overcome the fundamental problems of measuring different material, colors, surface finish and angles, without the need for manual recalibration.
