The WIZinspect system from Nextec Technologies is an automated Measuring Cell for automotive castings of engine heads for both measurement and quality control.
Nextec Technologies 2001 has launched the WIZinspect, a state-of-the-art turnkey engine head measurement and inspection solution for in-line engine head castings in the automotive industry.
The WIZinspect system is an automated Measuring Cell for automotive castings of engine heads for both measurement and quality control.
It is a production floor turnkey solution that includes the WIZprobe.
An advanced non-contact optical laser-scanning sensor for accurate, fast and highly reliable geometric measurements, the WIZinspect measurement software and the Hawk Motion Controller and Platform.
In addition, this turnkey solution includes the associated conveyor and robot system, the cell automation and the housing for environmental protection.
Nextec got the first project order from an automotive supplier in Europe, an engine head manufacturer for Volkswagen, Audi and Mitsubishi.
The first and second lines were already installed during 2003 and 2004.
The system in measures 750 heads per day, 3 shift a day, 7 days a week.
In the past the cylinder head manufacturer used to measure the cylinder heads using a conventional CMM with a cycle time of 15 minutes.
Now they measure each head in 2 minutes with our WIZinspect system.
The cell contains two machines, and therefore the measurement time per head was reduced to one minute per head.
The second order came directly from Volkswagen for one of their cylinder heads plant.
The system consists of two 7-7-5 WIZinspect machines, conveyors for feeding, for good parts and for scrap parts output, a robot to feed the machines, an ID system, a marking system, an air conditioned cell,, and the WIZinspect software.
The expected daily quantity is 1000 heads; with 100 measuring dimensions per head spread over three faces.
The WIZinspect is offered to cylinder head manufacturers as a turnkey solution for in-line inspection or as a retrofit kit to be mounted onto existing CMM for off-line inspection.
