Dual-stator pump has longer life
A pump's dual-stator system prolongs stator lifetime and reduces lifecycle costs thanks to its manoeuvrability within two-part reusable housing, and when worn, only the stator needs replacing.
Progressing cavity pump manufacturer Netzsch has introduced the iFD-Stator, a new dual-stator system comprising of a stator and stator housing that the company claims differs from all existing stators by offering significant advantages in capacity, economy and environmental protection, with the system being endorsed by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Environmental Foundation).
The iFD-Stator, which is compatible with all Nemo pumps from the NM series, prolongs stator lifetime and reduces lifecycle costs thanks to its manoeuvrability within the two-part reusable housing.
The use of a separate housing and stator means that, when worn, only the stator needs to be replaced and is therefore more easily disposed of.
During assembly, the over-sized stator - which is manufactured using Netzsch's environmentally friendly Nemolast S65 elastomer - easily slides over the rotor allowing for the optimum operating dimension to be achieved through axial constriction.
Its reduced initial breakaway torque allows for the selection of smaller pump drives, which means that investment costs and energy consumption are reduced.
And, with the addition of an optional regulator, the iFD-Stator can be infinitely adjusted to process parameters such as temperature, working pressure and continuous wear compensation, which can also result in extended stator and rotor life.
The iFD-Stator is manufactured to tight production tolerances, is available with S and L geometries and capable of transferring media at rates from 0.5 to 50m3/h at pressures to 12 bar.
Commenting for Netzsch Pumps, environmental applications engineer Keren Booker said: "As well as being environmentally friendly in its manufacture, the iFD Stator is also service friendly, requires minimum maintenance and improves plant safety.".
