Travelling cranes designed for hazardous
usage
Three overhead travelling cranes have been for use in a coating line are fitted with twin air operated synchronised chain hoists and are for use in potentially hazardous atmospheres.
Three overhead travelling cranes have been provided by J D Neuhaus for use in a coating line overseas These comprise ELV units with carrying capacities of 750kg and spans of 11.8 metres

Each is fitted with twin air operated synchronised chain hoists rated at 375kg capacity per hook.
They are designed for use in potentially hazardous atmospheres and have an explosion classification Ex 11 2 GD 11B T4.
The synchronised hoists are operated from a single pendent control unit, which ensures that longer loads can be raised, lowered and positioned, sensitively, accurately and with infinitely variable speed.
This is particularly suited where rollers need to be precisely re-located within their bearings or housing to prevent handling damage.
The Ex rating also ensures that the products are suitable for use in a wide range of industries, where explosive atmospheres can occur.
Typical applications include paper, printing, finishing, chemical and food related industries as well as general engineering.
The hoists are equipped with overload protection and increased spark prevention which includes copper plating of the bottom block and load hooks, and a brass safety catch being fitted.
Both trolley and crane drives are two-speed, with an air emergency stop incorporated.
A JDN energy chain system is located on top of the main girder.
This carries the compressed air and other power supply cabling and eliminates conventional trailing or festoon cable control systems which can seriously limit travel distances.
Hoses and cables are protected against damage and the effects of dirt, corrosion and chemicals.
The energy chain is maintenance free, with a long operating life and can be used at temperatures from -40deg to +125degC.
JDN overhead crane systems can be tailored to fit available space requirements, and supplied with optional drives including compressed air, hydraulic and electric.
They can also be supplied with wire rope or chain hoists mechanisms, and both electromagnetic or radio control systems are also available.
