Motorised trollies cope with harsh conditions

A JD Neuhaus product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 2, 2004

Motor operated trolley units designed for use with a range of air operated hoists provide a high level of tolerance to corrosion and general dirt and humidity, vapour or smoke.

New motor operated trolley units have been developed by J D Neuhaus for use with their Profi TS range of air operated hoists.

With full pneumatic operation and different levels of spark prevention, the equipment is suitable for up to group 11C explosion protection (EX 112 GD 11C T4).

This ensures that products are suitable for general engineering use but particularly in hazardous environments encountered in the chemical, paper, pharmaceutical, printing, paint spraying and mining industries as well as foundries, refineries, offshore oil and gas platforms, marine tankers and even food handling plants.

Their robust construction also provides a high level of tolerance to corrosion and general dirt, together with working conditions involving humidity, vapour or smoke and temperatures from -20degC to +70degC.

The new trolleys have a super-compact design with a very low headroom, making the best of space utilisation and helping to streamline material handling operations.

They are easy to install, service and maintain and can be fitted to beams with a bottom flange thickness up to 40mm.

Flange widths from 50 to 300mm can be accommodated, with accurate adjustment provided by a threaded clevis pin which is secured with locknuts.

The trolleys feature new, low noise level, drive motors with two step speed as standard.

These also have lube-free operation, eliminating the need for an additional filter silencer.

The Profi TS hoists used with this trolley are available in four lift capacities from 0.25 to 2 tonnes and also feature twin speed motors.

They are top hook suspended, and twist secured as standard.

Braking is provided by two independent systems for maximum safety.

The motor brake regulates the braking and holds the load securely.

The second back-up brake opens and closes in tandem but is not subject to normal wear and tear.

Lifting and lowering speeds are infinitely variable over the operating ranges with an input air pressure of 6 bar.

Unlimited switching operations can also be accommodated under continuous working conditions.
