Air-operated monorail hoists work reliably

A JD Neuhaus product story

Air-operated monorail hoists work reliably and safely when working in conditions of high humidity, dust laden atmospheres and even hazardous areas, claims the manufacturer.

The EH range of monorail hoists thrive in working conditions that can seriously compromise some lifting products, said J D Neuhaus.

Being air-operated, these JDN products can offer performance, reliability and safety when working in conditions of high humidity, dust laden atmospheres and even hazardous areas where there is a risk of corrosion, contamination or explosion.

With individual hoist capacities ranging from 10 to 100 tonnes, units can be supplied for the most demanding general engineering handling applications as well as the chemical, power generation and mining industries.

There are also twin hoist set-ups, providing double lifting (up to 200 tonnes) from a single pendant control.

These hoists have particular applications in on-or off-shore oil and gas installations for BOP handling, together with cement plants for the removal or replacement of grinding rollers.

JDN monorail hoists now have worldwide applications in the cement industry where their compact, low headroom designs have been ideally suited.

The hoists can be supported on standard I beams with either tapered or parallel flanges.

They can be used as a double-lifting unit running between two parallel beams, or with the two hoists running in tandem on a single support beam.

Their versatility and general ease of handling with a single pendant controller provides the high degree of precise handling required for the successful removal, repair and/or replacement of major components.

It also obviates the need for time wasting and costly structural modifications to roofing or dismantling of the mill assembly which can be necessary where the job has to be tackled with a mobile crane.

Features include the following.

* All these JDN hoists are fitted with highly effective durable-vane motors which have low air consumption and require minimum maintenance for economy of operation.

* They feature a positive start self-lubricating system and a fail-safe disc brake.

* Double sealed wheel bearings are fitted, with planetary gearing for the hoist and both anti-climb and anti-drop devices on the trolleys.

* Safety against excessive overloading is provided, together with heat-treated and calibrated wear-resistant chains for protection against stress corrosion and cracking.

* All products have Ex rated explosion-proofness as standard with optional enhanced spark protection also available for explosion group IIC.

Other optional features include a range of modifications for high risk applications, rack and pinion trolley drives, overload protection, two speed travel, filter silencing and hydraulic drive.

Additional equipment also available for general mill operation and include the following.

* Air chain hoists with capacities from 125kg up to 100 tonnes.

* Air driven wire rope winches with capacities from 500kg up to 3000kg.

* Crane kits and complete cranes systems.
