A highly rigid, floor-type travelling column CNC milling and boring machine combines high rough-machining capacity with high finishing accuracy.

The Supra floor-type travelling column CNC milling and boring machine, built by Nicolas Correa, Spain, is a high-performance heavy-duty milling machine intended for use in general mechanical and mould/die-making industries The Supra miller combines high rough-machining capacity with high finishing accuracy

A key factor to achieve this is the excellent rigidity of the machine whose 'Column-Frame-Ram' 'Box in the Box' construction permits the machine's Y- and Z-axis to support big machining stress without vibration.

The different structural components have been designed to resist stress under the most adverse machining conditions, hence the large cross-section area of the ram for instance.

Due to its high geometrical accuracy based on a dynamic ram compensation system and optimum design of drive dynamics enabling feeds of up to 30m/min., this machine is a 'benchmark' in the sector, said Correa.

Additionally, the Supra model offers excellent options for customisation through the incorporation of tool changer, measuring probes, a wide choice of tables and automatic spindle head changer.

Details of the Supra floor-type travelling column CNC milling and boring machine are as follows.

* Longitudinal travel: 4.500-24000mm.

* Cross travel: 1300,1500mm.

* Vertical travel: 2000-4000mm.

* Feed: up to 30m/min.

* Numerical control: Heindenhain iTNC-530.

* 30kW differential universal head with 0.1 deg indexing, spindle speed 6000 rev/min.

* Automatic spindle head changing system.
