High magnifications combined with long distances

A Nikon UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 23, 2004

Stereoscopic zoom microscopes combine high magnifications with long working distances and feature auxiliary objectives that allow operators to select a height that suits them best.

With their unrivalled combinations of high magnifications and long working distances, the SMZ Series of stereo zoom microscopes, which will be displayed on the Nikon stand (No 7210) at Inspex 2004, are fast becoming the instruments of choice for inspecting components of all shapes and sizes.

Even the entry level SMZ645 models offer a 6.3x zoom coupled with a generous 11.5cm working distance and a total magnification ranging from 0.8 - 5x.

In the SMZ1000 models, the specification increases to a 10x zoom and a magnification range of 4 - 480x, while the top of the range SMZ1500 delivers a 15x zoom ratio and 3.75 - 540x magnification range.

Ergonomics are also well to the fore throughout the series with auxiliary objectives that allow operators to select a height that suits them best.

Further personalisation is also possible on the SMZ1000 and SMZ1500 models via additional low level and tilting eyepiece tubes.

As would be expected from a leading microscope manufacturer, optical precision is a paramount.

In pursuit of the sharpest possible images, the SMZ1000 and SMZ1500 models have objectives that combine high numerical apertures and exceptional resolving power.

Add in special correction for axial and lateral chromatic aberration and the result is true-to-life images and colours - right out to the very periphery of the specimen.
