Metrology applications team measures up
Nikon Instruments has recruited two industrial applications specialists to ensure that users of the manual metrology and video measurement systems derive maximum benefit.
Nikon Instruments has recruited two experienced industrial applications specialists to ensure that users of its next generation manual metrology and video measurement systems derive the maximum benefit from advanced features, such as through-the-lens laser autofocusing, automatic edge detection and adjustable LED illumination.
Nikon has also appointed a new Industrial Sales Manager to coordinate all aspects of its customer support in this growing sector of its business.
These appointments reflect the company's increasing focus on industrial measurement and follow on from the recent training of the existing team, all of whom have attended NPL-accredited Metrology Courses.
Paul Gough, who is considered by many within the industry to be one of the top experts in metrology, joins Nikon as Business Development Specialist for Metrology and Video Measuring Systems straight from Hexagon/Tesa Technology.
Prior to that, he spent over 10 years at Mitutoyo, latterly as a Technical Engineer responsible for sales and support of their 3-axis optical measuring systems.
Paul will be field-based, sharing his considerable expertise with users of Nikon's latest manual metrology microscopes and video measuring systems.
In addition to periods as an assembly production, a development and a design engineer, Nikon's new Metrology Application Specialist, Phil Wilson, worked for Renishaw on its Metrology equipment side, with his most recent role being in development marketing.
Phil will be based in Nikon's fully-equipped Metrology Laboratory in Kingston-upon-Thames and will provide technical support to the sales team.
In another move, reflecting Nikon's increasing focus on industrial microscopy and metrology.
Nikon has promoted Bill Clement to Industrial Sales Manager.
Bill, who has extensive experience in industrial microscopy, including 19 years at Wild Leitz and Leica Microsystems, will take charge of the new applications specialists and the field-based sales team.
Commenting on recruitment of the new applications specialists, Bill said, "We are delighted to have secured the services of two such well-known measuring experts to complement an already experienced team.
Their appointment means we now have a very compelling offering - a new series of manual metrology microscopes and an extended range of free-standing and bench-top video measuring systems, backed up by top-rate, first-hand industrial measurement experience".
