Let robots check screw threads in holes
A robot can now check thread size, depth and quality by powering an all-electric gage probe into and back out of a thread in sizes from 3mm to 50mm diameter.
For robot-guided inspection of internal threads in production parts, the New Vista Corporation has developed a Thread Verification Unit.
The all-electric unit checks thread size, depth and quality by powering a gage probe into and back out of a thread.
Features include the following.
* GO gaging.
* NO GO gaging.
* Combination gaging.
* Three sizes will inspect threads from 3mm to 50mm (1/8-2in).
These servomotor-powered Thread Verification Units are designed for medium-to-long-cycle applications where there can be a variety of part types and thread sizes.
Threads are checked successively; each thread inspection takes about 1s.
Gage probe changes are accomplished by interfacing with a Tool Changing Station.
