A thread verification unit by New Vista is carried in a machining centre's automatic tool changer magazine and is picked up and used automatically to check internal and external threads.

New Vista Corporation has developed a Thread Verification Unit for use in automatic tool changers (ATC) in machining centers The TVU-IR sits in a CNC machining centre's ATC magazine, and is automatically deployed like any other tool

The TVU-IR automatically checks for the presence, size, and depth of internal or external threads.

Following inspection, the battery-powered unit sends a 'pass' or 'fail' infrared signal to a standard receiving unit.

The TVU-IR is capable of GO gaging, NO-GO gaging, and combination gaging.

Three sizes will inspect threads from 3mm to 50mm (1/8in to 2in).

Cycle times start at 0.7s.
