NPL Technologies, the Nuneaton based high tech patternmaker, has invested in a Parpas OMNIA 42, the largest machine the Italian manufacturer has sold to a UK company.

NPL Technologies, the Nuneaton based high tech patternmaker, has invested in a Parpas OMNIA 42, the largest machine the Italian manufacturer has sold to a UK company The OMNIA 42, a high speed fixed table gantry mill, is capable of cutting all materials including soft model board, aluminium, cast iron and hardened steel

NPL Technologies specialises in the production of patterns, models, tooling and prototype parts for companies including Cosworth, Land Rover, McLaren, Williams, Audi, BMW and Jaguar.

The OMNIA 42 has both low and high speed five axis heads, a cutting envelope of 4m x 2.5m x 1.5m and a Heidenhain TNC 430 CNC digital control system.

Tony Lowe, joint managing director NPL Technologies, said: "With this state-of-the-art CNC machine we will be able to machine very large components and to the same high levels of quality and delivery we have been achieving on smaller machines." NPL have installed a 10 ton crane for loading and unloading components on the OMNIA 42.

The investment in this new machine is part of NPL Technologies' investment in additional facilities which include two confidential, air conditioned vehicle studios, 25% more production capacity and additional project offices and meeting rooms.
