CNC combination drill point and split point grinder is a high production machine for manufacturing or repointing twist drills from 1.5 to 13mm diameter.

Normac recently introduced the new model PS52 Combination Drill Point and Split Point Grinder at EMO 2005 exhibition in Hannover, Germany The PS52 is a high production machine for manufacturing or repointing twist drills from 1.5 to 13mm diameter

The PS52 is a parallel operation machine, i e, it unloads/loads, point grinds, and split point grinds simultaneously, to provide maximum throughput.

The PS52 consists of an automatic unloading, loading and cutting edge location assembly; a point grinding wheelhead assembly with CNC wheel dressing for grinding a wide variety of drill point geometries including standard radially relieved drill points, helical points, and multi-facet points; and a split point grinding wheelhead assembly with a diamond roll dresser capable of grinding NAS907 and DIN1412 Form A, B and C split points.

Drills are loaded with the cutting edge located into collet spindles.

The drills are then transferred between loading and grinding operations locked in the collet spindles to ensure accuracy of the point relief orientations relative to the flute cutting edge.

A complete size changover can be accomplished within 30 minutes or less, and average cycle time less than 20 seconds per piece, floor to floor.
