A stylish pair of "waste products" cast in aluminium by Norse Precision Castings illustrates the ability of the sand casting process to realise the designer's ambitions of shape and finish, and without extensive post cast machining The cigarette stubber, consisting of door, back casting, stubber blank and two small parts is about 330mm high with alternative back casting providing a wall mounted variant

The litter bin is higher, standing some 1100mm high, with main castings around 1m long.

A novel feature built into the bin is an automatic fire damper.

Heat is detected by a bimetallic strip, the designed deformation of which releases the gravity loaded inner lid to deny the flame oxygen.

Both products are powder coated, then clear powder lacquered for a vandal resistant yet attractive finish.
