Ideal for small machined parts, plastic mouldings or electronic components, a video-based, non-contact measuring machine provides a full colour image capture within the field of view.

Able to provide a full colour image capture within the field of view, carry out semi-automatic non-contact measurement in three-axes directly on the shopfloor and compare captured data against programmed dimensions, the latest SmartScope Starlite range of video-based, non-contact measuring machines breaks into the market at under GBP 15,000 Ideal for small machined parts, plastic mouldings, electronic components as well as non rigid rubber type components, the bench top SmartScope Starlite three machine range, now available from OGP UK of Hatton in Derbyshire, has a measuring volume up to 300mm by 300mm by 150mm

With a 6.5 to 1 programmable self-calibrating motorised zoom lens, between 35 and 186 times on-screen magnification can be obtained.

The range features manual motion control and automated field of view processing with three fully programmable light sources giving 'profile' through back lighting, 'square-on-surface' through a controlled ring light and 'through-the-lens' using fibre optic technology.

Developed as a shop hardened inspection tool to combine the advantages and capabilities of a profile projector, hand and bench top measuring equipment, Starlite goes a stage further presenting a single clear, visual solution.

The new machine eliminates part alignment, is able to take in data from IGES files for the application of tolerances and will provide process data output at the point of production either for SPC analysis or simply as a pass/fail notification.

Reporting can be instantly provided in nominal, actual, tolerance, deviation or exceed modes.

Exclusive to the OGP SmartScope is self-optimising edge analysis (edge grabbing) for full field of view processing while an autofocus system for the vertical Z-axis enables dimensions such as the height of shoulders and depths of counterbores to be captured within the lighting range.

Glass scale resolution, as standard, is one micron with options available to upgrade to 0.5 microns.

The built-in Pentium computer processor has 128MB RAM, 60GB hard drive with CD ROM and Windows (registered) 2000 operating system.

It comes with 15 inch flat screen, mouse and keyboard.

A range of options includes a motorised rotary index unit, granite stand and various software packages for reporting and graphic/numerical fit display of data.
