Non-contact system competes with projectors

An OGP product story

Competing with optical comparators and profile projectors, a non-contact measuring system has many features associated with expensive, high-end vision systems.

The recently launched, highly acclaimed Starlite non-contact measuring system will be shown for the first time in the UK, by OGP UK, at the Medical Devices Technology Exhibition, 11-12th February 2004.

The system boasts many features associated with expensive, high-end vision systems, yet competes with optical comparators and profile projectors.

Also on show will be a Smartscope series non-contact system, from a wide range of machines that include ZIP multi-sensor systems and come with world-beating video-system measurement and image analysis software.

Starlite, announced just three months ago, is a programmable, semi-automatic, 3D vision system utilising true grey-scale edge detection and image analysis.

It offers excellent repeatability characteristics and reproducibility of measurement, a critical need in the medical engineering industry, as well validated data acquisition and reporting.

At less than GBP 15,000 for a complete package, including computer system and with a large stage, Starlite provides highly productive and accurate measurement of features previously possible only with systems costing two or three times as much.

OGP has received many enquiries from users of profile projectors, who can achieve a much more comprehensive range of measurement solutions in a fraction of the time taken with their current, 2D system.

Starlite is ideal for plastics and rubber applications, where form and dimensional characteristics are paramount and where speed of measurement can be critical, as well as in pharmaceutical and process industries, mould and toolmaking and general engineering.

OGP will be announcing new features for its Starlite range at MDT 2004 and demonstrating the system's high-productivity measurement capabilities.

The company will also make an announcement about its progress in 2003 and plans for the future, including the building of a bespoke facility to accommodate expansion and demand for its systems and aftercare services.
