Oki signs partnership agreement with Opsware to provide network and server automation management system solutions in Japan

Oki Electric Industry and Opsware, the leading provider of Data centre Automation software, have announced that they have signed a partnership agreement in which OKI will resell Opsware's Network Automation System (NAS) and Server Automation System (SAS) to the Japanese market Through Oki Consulting Solutions, OKI will provide the Opsware products as a distributor of Opsware Japan

"Opsware is widely recognised as the leader and innovator in Data centre Automation".

"They have the only integrated suite that ties together automated management of networks, servers and storage, giving a complete view of all applications and their interdependencies," said Yutaka Maeda, Executive Vice President of Oki Electric Industry and President of Oki Consulting Solutions.

"We have deployed Opsware's Network Automation System internally, and have confirmed its value in realising effective IT management with optimum cost".

"It can establish an efficient internal IT management system by monitoring total assets, strengthening network security through password management and handling change management".

"utilising this experience, OKI will provide Opsware's Network Automation System in Japan".

"Going forward, we will also deploy Opsware's Server Automation System internally and provide it to the Japanese market based on our experience".

With Japan's version of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (J-SOX) to be implemented beginning in fiscal year 2008, enterprises will be required to establish strong internal controls for their IT operations.

IT departments are being requested to establish operations frameworks using their current resources; however, the actual operational procedures most have in use today are often poorly organised, and implementing a complete system for IT management will be very costly.

J-SOX places special importance for IT management on enhancing access controls and change management procedures.

Automating operations will be the key to strengthening compliance in these areas while controlling operations costs.

Furthermore, many IT organisations will find that operations management based on Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) procedures will allow them to achieve the degree of auditing capability that will now be required.

"We are pleased to work with OKI, as they are known for their strong network in the Japanese market," said Naomi Tomita, general manager of Opsware Japan.

"Our customers have benefited greatly from Opsware's Data centre Automation products, often achieving orders of magnitude cost savings and improvements in productivity and time-to-market".

"Many organisations have found Opsware to be a key catalyst in making their ITIL implementations successful".

"We're delighted with the great expertise that OKI will make available to our customers on ITIL and other Data centre Automation projects, and they will be offering total service through their group companies to provide full customer satisfaction".

The services OKI will provide include everything from consultation, system integration operation through to maintenance.

Consultation will be provided by Oki Consulting Solutions, and systems integration and maintenance will be provided by Oki Network Integration.
