OK's Metcal MX-500S helps solderer win award

An OK product story

A young engineer has used OK International's Metcal MX-500S Soldering and Rework System to help win a gold medal in the Industrial Electronics Competition at the World Skills Competition.

The biennial World Skills Competition, held in Japan in 2007, was a demonstration of excellence in vocational training.

Nissan Motor used it to showcase the talents of Akira Shimizu, an engineer it taught to solder to a high standard.

The new Metcal MX-5000 Series is a high-performance package for complex assembly applications.

The system is ideal for the challenges of lead-free processes, multi-layer boards, large ground planes and high component packing density.

It uses OK International's Smartheat technology coupled with 80W of power to instantly respond to load conditions with high levels of control.

The design ensures that the system will not overshoot while recovering in seconds for soldering and rework processes.

OK International recently added a desoldering capability to the Metcal MX-500S.
