Spiral conveyors effect smooth vertical transfer
A low friction chain slat arrangement is used in spiral conveyors to provide continuous, smooth vertical transfer of product in either direction from upper and lower levels.
The contract allows Colpac exclusive rights to distribute its paper-pulp food tray range for retail end-use.
The tray range is an environmentally acceptable alternative to plastic or metal food containers and includes one, two and three compartment, deep-fill and shallow-fill which are sealed by Oliver's range of commercial film sealing machines.
Managing Director of Colpac, Neil Goldman, signed the contract with Oliver's CEO, Parker Tuthill on a recent visit to the Grand Rapids Michigan Global HQ of Oliver Products.

Labelling system prints at 300mm/sec
In response to customer demand for increasingly faster 1:1 print and apply labelling, Advanced Labelling Systems (ALS) has launched the ALX 924, with a print speed of up to 300mm/second.
Pallet printers are stand-alone or integratable
Advanced Labelling Systems Ltd (ALS) has launched the ALS-PL-Series, a new range of cost effective and highly reliable pallet labellers which use thermal direct or transfer print technology.
Labelling products at high speed
ALS produces a high speed, rotary labelling machine, the ALS-R-Series, which produces high quality results in the application of front/back, neck position, multi-panel and wraparound labels.
Welcoming him, Mr Tuthill said, "This is a significant step forward for Oliver Products.
It demonstrates that we see the potential in UK and European markets for high quality food trays with strong environmental credentials alongside soaring public concerns about the environmental impacts of packaging.
We are delighted to join forces with a UK business which has a similarly impressive history and family business values".
Oliver Products developed one of the first bread-slicing machines for home use and became a household name with what was then a ground-breaking product early last century.
Since then its packaging products have captured major US markets and it currently holds a dominant 70 percent share of the US senior meals packaging market.
The trays have become the preferred choice in this sector because they are paper-based, allowing them to be safely used in microwave ovens as well as for conventional heating up to 205degC.
They can also be frozen to minus 40degC.
Colpac was established in Luton in 1937 and was first known as Frank Coleman (Luton) .
It began as a supplier of stitched boxes - primarily hat boxes serving the thriving hat making industry also based in Luton.
In the 1970's the company moved to Flitwick in Bedfordshire where it expanded to supply printed folding cartons, catering disposables and partyware.
Today, Colpac exports to over thirty countries.
Neil Goldman, son of the founder of Colpac, said, "I am very pleased to extend our Colpac range to include Oliver's paper food trays which have been such a success in the USA.
We are confident that their products represent an ideal alternative for those food producers and retailers looking for a more environmentally acceptable food tray solution".
The new Oliver trays are manufactured from paper pulp obtained from sustainable sources.
The food contact surface is lined during manufacture with a thin gauge polyester film to provide a safe barrier to EU Food Contact Regulations between the food and the tray - which is recyclable.
Oliver sealing machines have been developed specifically to ensure a consistent, safe, leak-proof film lid.
The film adheres to the outer rim of each tray as well as the rims of each compartment to prevent spillage of one part of the meal into the other during transit.
The secure film not only keeps in freshness and nutrition, it helps the meal stay hot and retains moisture for improved taste and texture.
Oliver can also provide an advanced film formulation with invisible micro-perforations which release excess steam during cooking.
