Visual technology firm continues growth
Oxford Metrics Group, producer of image understanding, motion capture and visual effects technology products, shows continued growth with strong results for the six months ending March 2007.
Oxford Metrics Group (OMG), the leading developer of image understanding, motion capture and visual effects technology for the engineering, life sciences, defence, games and movie industries, has announced strong interim results for the six months ended 31 March 2007 In a busy and highly successful six months, technology from Oxford Metrics' companies has been used in the production of many of the leading movies such as Spiderman 3, and Charlotte's Web, and games such as Brian Lara International Cricket 2007

Earlier in 2007, the group re-branded its Geospatial Vision unit as Yotta, a company that is mapping the UK highways and road-side assets, and has contracts in place with a number of UK local authorities.
For the six months ended 31 March 2007, Oxford Metrics recorded record turnover, up 4% to GBP8.5m (H1 2005: GBP8.2m), profit before tax up 23% and strong cash generation with cash balances at 31 March 2007 of GBP6.6m.
The Group's two long standing and most well-established businesses are 2d3 and Vicon.

Vicon continues to lead the global market in motion capture systems, and has launched a new product, Nexus, for the life sciences market - a key market for Oxford Metrics.
2d3 has moved into new markets, and is establishing excellent links in the defence sector, with its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capability.
The newest business, Geospatial Vision, has been re-branded as Yotta and will become the new name in mapping, setting class-leading standards for extracting tiny details from huge datasets.
Yotta, which specialises in capturing street level imaging and automatically extracting information for highways, mapping and utilities organisations around the world, already has contracts in place with a number of UK local authorities and other highways-centric organisations, including Nottinghamshire County Council, Oxfordshire County Council, and Atkins, the largest multidisciplinary consultancy in Europe.
Nick Bolton, Oxford Metrics' chief executive, said: "Since becoming Chief Executive of Oxford Metrics in May 2005, I have implemented a number of initiatives focused on keeping costs down, exploiting our existing technology, and ensuring consistency of sales execution.
