Streamlined Processes To Respond To Cost Pressures
Ever increasing levels of competition are forcing businesses to operate with streamlined processes, according to Chris Hutchens of Gloucestershire (UK) company Online Packaging.
Applying wrap-around labels to tapered bottles
Following extensive packaging trilas, Smith and Nephew Consumer Products selected an ALS 600 labelling machine for processing tapered bottles at its Corby manufacturing plant.
Print and apply labelling is ERP-enabled
Fifteen years of unwavering reliability meant a polish manufacturer had no hesitation in selecting a complete ERP-enabled print and apply labelling system from the same supplier.
Online's account manager, Des Brennan, who initiated the contact and has nurtured the relationship from day one, conducts stock checks each morning to ensure the required materials are delivered that afternoon for the safe and swift distribution of the heavy-duty automotive goods to the global truck market, said Online.
With the diesel injector firm, Online delivers the packaging to the trackside pre-assembled to save time.
The result is that the customer is free to focus on its business without the worry of a supply shortfall that would halt distribution and have repercussions on the supply chain and the bottom line.
Online Packaging said it provides a service tailored to the specific needs of each customer.
Online's account managers work closely with customers to understand their business, how it works, the products and the end users.
They make sure they are aware of production and delivery timetables and anticipate usage fluctuations at any given time in the production cycle.
According to the injector company's purchasing department: "Outsourcing the packaging function to Online Packaging has helped to streamline our production procedures.
We have limited space for storing the bulky packaging that our goods require.
The just in time service saves the need for setting aside storage space for packaging materials which can be allocated for more lucrative goods instead.
The daily stock checks are critical to our business.
Thanks to Online's attention to detail and because it ensures we have the supplies we need, we have maintained our delivery promises to our customers.
We've also saved money through Online's suggestions on ways to reduce materials usage.
Equally, the account managers ensure we don't over order, reducing waste." Chris Hutchens, Online Packaging's founder and managing director, explained: "We've had this customer for a number of years now and we continually review our service to make sure it is getting the best we can possibly deliver at all times.".
