Optrel, part of the Bacou Dalloz group, is launching two new innovative optoelectronic welding helmets which are said to set the safety benchmark for all similar welding PPE (personal protective equipment).

The Orion OSE and the Helios welding helmets have been specifically designed to ensure highly effective levels of protection for the wearer's eyesight, combined with maximum wearer comfort.

Both helmets are intended for use during all electric arc welding processes - including electrode welding, MIG/MAG welding, high melting point processes, plasma arc welding, TIG and flux-cored wire welding.

The Orion OSE and the Helios both provide constant protection against UV (ultraviolet) and IR (infrared) rays as well as shade adjustment levels from DIN 9 to DIN 13.

Both helmets also have an angle detection adjustment of 120-60 degrees that prevents the triggering of a filter by other welders working nearby.

The new smart technology in the helmets is powered by solar cells.

One of the key features of the Orion OSE is sensor technology that automatically adjusts the shade level in response to the intensity of the arc welding light.

This means the wearer does not have to stop work to make manual adjustments, although he can manually correct the protection level by plus one shade level if required.

For practical, easy access, all controls are mounted on the outside of the helmet.

While all the helmet's functions can run automatically, these can be switched to manual if the wearer prefers.

The headgear is designed to offer an excellent fit for the wearer, which maximises the field of vision and is comfortable to wear for either short or long periods.

The Orion OSE comes in two colours: Blue Magic or Black.

For simple, cost-effective practicality, Optrel also offer the Miraplus OSE welding helmet.

With proven functionality in a new updated design, the Miraplus offers a manual shade level selector for DIN 10 or DIN 11, operated via a sliding switch.

A sensor bar minimises the influences of surrounding bright light or can be removed for low-light applications.

Miraplus has the ergonomic design of the OSE helmet with its proven headgear, ensuring high levels of comfort for the wearer.

The Helios welding helmet provides its own built in workplace illumination system.

It is fitted with three green LED spotlights to light up the immediate work area for the wearer.

A delay switch activates or deactivates the system and light sensors trigger the automatic cut-off as soon as any welding begins.

The LEDs are rechargeable and can be used for two days under normal working conditions.

Both the Orion OSE and the Helios comply with the following European safety standards: EN 166; EN 169; EN 175, EN 379, EN 12941 and EN 12942.
