Document design and automation software

An Optio Software product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 10, 2007

Amtico International, has eliminated the costs of pre-printed media and significantly reduced the cost of shipping labels by using Optio's document design and automation softwares.

Optio Software, a provider of technology solutions dedicated to helping customers automate, manage and control the complete lifecycle of document-intensive processes, has announced that six-year customer, Amtico International, has eliminated the costs of pre-printed media and significantly reduced the cost of shipping labels by using Optio's innovative document design and automation solutions.

Amtico International is a leading manufacturer of luxury vinyl tile products for the retail, hospitality, leisure and healthcare industries.

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Amtico serves more than 30,000 customers worldwide.

Amtico International began their search for a document creation and automation solution several years ago when they decided to upgrade their QAD enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.

At the time, they were using a document automation solution from an alternate provider.

After the ERP upgrade took place, Amtico's Information Technology team discovered that their critical, customer-facing documents could no longer be opened or updated with their existing solution.

Recreating every document would take multiple hours of coding and rework.

Therefore, Simon Smith, Amtico's IT Infrastructure Manager, decided to begin looking at competitive solutions to replace the system they were using prior to the upgrade.

"Our objective was to find an easy-to-use document management solution that would extend the value of our updated ERP system without requiring additional coding and resources," he said.

Smith also wanted to ensure that the company's new solution delivered the same level of class and distinction as its flooring products.

"The product we sell is a premium product.

It is important that the documents that ship with our luxury vinyl tile reflect the same look and feel - the same level of quality that our customers expect," he added.

"We chose Optio's technology because it met all of our requirements with ease," said Smith.

"Optio's DesignStudioTM and e.ComIntegrateTM solutions worked seamlessly with our QAD ERP system back in 2000 and continues to do so, despite several upgrades to our ERP and Optio solutions since that time," he added.

"We also like the fact that documents created in DesignStudio translate easily between countries," said Smith.

As a global company with thousands of customers worldwide, the solution's flexibility saves us valuable time and resources, which allows us to spend more time focused on what we do best." According to Smith, Optio's solutions have enabled Amtico International to eliminate the costs of pre-printed media and significantly reduce the costs of shipping labels.

"The only pre-printed paper we use now is for check printing, stationery and legal forms," he stated.

"We invested the appropriate amount of time up front to design the documents we needed to advance our business.

The solution runs itself.

In all this time I've never had to do any development work to make it run smoothly," said Smith.

"Optio's solutions have proven to be very reliable - to the point that we've expanded DesignStudio and e.ComIntegrate to other parts of our business and pulled out competitive solutions that we had been using in its place.".
