Maximum boring stroke is 150mm (adjustable).
Each ADS Horizontal Boring machine is controlled by a Maxam pneumatic system comprising a control cabinet - which houses control valves, pneumatic logic modules and filter/regulator - two-hand safety start unit and Maxam CT series cylinders for clamping and drill advance and retract operations.
When the machine operator has loaded the component for drilling, the foot pedal is depressed to operate the Maxam Compact cylinder that clamps the component.
The safety starter's two buttons are depressed and held to actuate the Maxam CT series cylinder that advances the drill head into the component.
When an adjustable stop reaches the set drilling depth, the cylinder automatically retracts the drill head and unclamps the component.
A peck-feed operation, if required for certain materials and deep drilling, can be achieved by releasing and re-activating the safety starter's two buttons before the adjustable stop reaches the set drill depth.
On automatic machines, a peck-feed operation is achieved by an additional circuit using pneumatic logic components.
ADS manufacture multi-spindle drill heads with fixed centres to any configuration and to fit any machine.
These have ranged from a two-spindle drilling head fitted to an electrical hand drill for a bedroom furniture manufacturer, to an 84 spindle drill head to manufacture tea trays.
ADS also produce a range of 2, 3 and 4 spindle heads with adjustable centres. Request a free brochure from Parker Hannifin ...
