The robot arm is capable of handling a payload of up to 250kg and can achieve maximum benchmark speeds of 1,800 cycles per hour.
Specially designed ancillary equipment to flatten sacks and accurately position them for the robot to pick has been developed by Pacepacker as has the ASI, two wire 'bus' control system with a ten inch colour operator interface screen.
The sack gripper has also been designed and built in the UK by Pacepacker.
As the Fanuc robot has an unrivalled 'working envelope' almost endless layout options are available.
For example, one robot can work off at least four packing lines at once placing onto at least four separate pallet locations.
In addition, automatic pallet dispensing can be employed - as Fanuc say, "the only constraint is your imagination'.
Probably most surprising is the minimal floorspace the robot requires.
Those of you familiar with Pacepacker's MkIV Lift and Tip Palletiser may be interested to learn that the robot requires no extra space than this compact machine.
It brings the possibility of automatic palletising into plants which up until now had only dreamt of it.
Finally, Fanuc offer technical support and back up service which is unrivalled by any of their competitors.
The company has their UK headquarters in Coventry where they employ over forty engineers to design and build complete systems for other robotic applications.
