Offline CNC programming software gains award
Further qualification of Pathtrace of Reading's commitment to create a CAD friendly CAM system has been won through the award of 'Certified Select Status' on the EdgeCAM Solid Machinist software.
Further qualification of Pathtrace of Reading's commitment to create a CAD friendly CAM system has been won through the award by UGS of 'Certified Select Status' on the company's EdgeCAM Solid Machinist for Solid Edge off-line CNC programming software.
This status confirms EdgeCAM as being fully compatible and meeting the test programme requirements for reliability, installation and update capability.
Kris Kasprzak, Solid Edge Voyager Program Manager confirms his company's pride to list EdgeCAM as a Certified Select Product.
He said: "The associative integration between Solid Edge modelling and Pathtrace manufacturing will help our customers avoid delays in moving product designs to manufacturing.
With EdgeCAM Solid Machinist, the Solid Edge user has the advantage of seamless integration between the CAD and CAM products.
By avoiding the use of translators, programmers are able to capitalise on direct use of the CAD model's inherent intelligence in order to generate the required machining strategy.
Simon Lee, Group Marketing Manager of Pathtrace maintains the route from Solid Edge CAD to EdgeCAM could not be shorter.
He explains: "An EdgeCAM launch button inside Solid Edge closes the design to manufacture link.
This means for Solid Edge users around the world that are designing components requiring aspects of CNC machining, from prismatic and surface milling to multi-axis, multi-turret turning, the integration of EdgeCAM means program generation is quick and highly productive.
Due to the full CAD to toolpath associativity between EdgeCAM and Solid Edge, a single click initiates the automatic feature recognition strategy within EdgeCAM.
The solid model is then automatically interrogated to find the machinable features for creation of the toolpath.
If the model is edited or updated, EdgeCAM Solid Machinist will recognise all dimensional and topological changes and recalculate the applied toolpath.
Solid Edge is the proven design engineering solution that can reduce time to market by an achievable 50 per cent using exclusive knowledge sharing technology that accelerates the engineering process.
The choice of leading machinery designers world wide, Solid Edge has been selected by companies such as Alcoa, NEC Engineering and Volvo as a strategic tool to help them realise the benefits of better quality, lower costs, and shorter delivery cycles.
Solid Edge is uniquely positioned to deliver exceptional value to machinery designers.
Solid Edge directly addresses the practical aspects of design engineering with powerful CAD functions that are extremely easy to learn and use.
With an unmatched ability to capture design intelligence, Solid Edge ensures more accurate and rapid design change turnaround and increased productivity for machinery development.
The Solid Edge Voyage Program includes more than 150 downstream engineering software applications in such disciplines as finite element analysis, manufacturing, kinematics and dynamics, electro-mechanical, rapid prototyping, standard parts, product data management, translation, view/redline/animation and hardware solutions.
