Demos reflect gains for mould and die,
production
The advantages and capabilities of an off-line programming system are to be demonstrated under live conditions on six exhibitor stands at MACH 2002.
The advantages and capabilities of Pathtrace's CNC EdgeCAM off-line programming system are to be demonstrated under live conditions on six exhibitor stands at MACH 2002, in addition to the ongoing presentation on Pathtrace's own stand 5460 in hall 5 The demonstrations will reflect the production and mould and die capabilities of EdgeCAM and will include milling, turning and high-speed machining applications

Covering both halls 4 and 5, EdgeCAM will be featuring on the 600 Centre area of the 600 Group stand 5380, the Datron stand 4118, Rambo UK on stand 4870, Toyoda stand 5660, TW Ward CNC Machinery stand 4660, and Ward HiTech stand 5310.
The latest KIA Hi-Centre V40 on the TW Ward CNC Machinery stand has been programmed using EdgeCAM, which uses in excess of 8 MB of memory, to produce a mould for a power tool saw handle.
Said Richard Shaw, Applications Manager: "EdgeCAM totally met our expectations and the program was error-free when it was transferred to the machine.
We only had to make very minor changes, set the tools according to the tool list provided by Pathtrace and then machine the part." TW Ward CNC Machinery is also using EdgeCAM to program the machining of a dice from bar on a KIA SKT 21 LMS twin-spindle lathe involving fixed and driven tools.
From the 600 Centre stand, EdgeCAM will be used to program a demonstration involving hard metal and copper EDM electrode machining on a Fanuc Alpha Robodrill T14-iCL fitted with 15,000 revs/min spindle.
Two Richmond vertical machining centres, which are being world-debuted at the show will also be programmed via EdgeCAM.
Meanwhile, a Ward HiTech exhibit will feature EdgeCAM generated programs for machining a wine bottle stopper and the milling of a mobile phone stand, while Toyoda Machinery and Engineering Europe will be using the software to create mould and die programs for high speed machining demonstrations.
Rambo UK will also be producing mould and die components and, by using EdgeCAM, the form of a single impression mould cavity will be generated.
The model making theme will also be carried over to Datron in order to demonstrate the desk top milling of parts for a model steam train.
