International business is soaring for Pathtrace as users seek to reap the benefits of higher production efficiencies made possible by recent developments in off-line CNC programming.

International business is soaring for Pathtrace of Reading as users seek to reap the benefits of higher production efficiencies made possible by recent developments in the company's EdgeCAM off-line CNC machine tool programming software Brian Steatham, managing director, recounts that overall sales in Europe are up by some 20 per cent, North America by 13 per cent and Scandinavia by a massive 40 per cent where EdgeCAM has also taken a market leading position

He said: "The production engineering and mould and die market have recognised the advantages of working with an independent CAM supplier that is able to address the flexibility and functionality needed in a single CAM product that seamlessly integrates with all the major solids-based CAD systems.

This is confirmed by the fact that 80 per cent of our sales now involve EdgeCAM Solid Machinist." While enjoying increased market penetration, Pathtrace is once again stepping up its development programme and is recruiting three engineers to increase its software resource.

Pathtrace has found that while investment in capital equipment is tight, users are looking for greater return on investment based on higher efficiencies, and more time is being committed to investigating achievable savings via this route.

Rather than resting on its laurels, Pathtrace is now setting its sights on the 'rapidly rising' Chinese market by establishing a subsidiary in Beijing.
