Latest toolpath CAM release targets productivity improvements by introducing a new profiling cycle that focuses on optimised toolpath control, lower cycle times and higher machining efficieny.

With EdgeCAM 8.5 Pathtrace has once again targeted productivity improvements by introducing a new profiling cycle that focuses on optimised toolpath control, reduced cycle times and an overall higher level of machining efficiency Helical profiling eliminates the need to lead on and off the component between each level

Efficient cutting as the tool is always in contact with the material leads to reduced cycle time and improved, consistent cutting conditions.

Another feature of the new cycle that offers enhanced ease of use is integrated cutter radius compensation.

Using this intelligent method, the cutting side is determined and compensation calls generated automatically between multiple profiles and levels.

This benefits machine tool users with added flexibility in cutting tool selection and results in easier and quicker programming and reduced cycle time.

The profiling cycle offers highly effective controls to determine the start and end positions for the cycle and a full set of corner rounding strategies that allow the user to choose the most appropriate method for machining corners.

The cycle benefits from greater user flexibility over the tool path position giving improved rapid to 'safe distance' positioning of the tool, while automatically checking the part geometry to prevent gouging.

Finally, to provide a consistent interface and support for advanced features in both 2D and 3D environments, the cycle allows the user to generate toolpaths on 2D geometry, 3D surfaces and solids.
