Edgecam sets program developments for 2000
A major development in the Edgecam portfolio is the launch of 'Solid Machinist' which will enable uses to directly machine Parasolid models inside the off-line programming software.
EdgeCAM 8.5 introduces a new intelligent option that inserts trochoidal moves where required.
The Trochoidal milling approach offers the user a range of benefits.
By minimising changes in the cutting direction the cycle achieves high and constant feed rates, leading to faster material removal.
The other key benefit, a considerably extended tool life is achieved by avoiding excessive tool load.
The introduction of this new option adds another dimension to EdgeCAM's intelligent roughing cycle.
Using Trochoidal milling, the cycle automatically adjusts the toolpath for efficient and safe machining, improving cutting conditions and allowing higher machining speeds to be maintained.
The cycle also incorporates adaptive rest roughing.
This allows the user to rest machine any roughing toolpath on the same CPL and pick the toolpath to rest rough directly from the model.
This offers more flexibility to decide the order of manufacture and supports rationalization.
EdgeCAM continues to lead the way with software that helps the user to reduce time to market and increase productivity.
