PCM Tooling (UK) have been appointed sole UK agents and distributors for the range of high precision modular tooling designed and produced by MBM Modular Tooling Systems AG, Switzerland.

PCM Tooling (UK) have been appointed sole UK agents and distributors for the range of high precision modular tooling designed and produced by MBM Modular Tooling Systems AG, Switzerland The MBM range offers a selection of standardised high precision tooling components for use on all machining centres and other precision CNC machines to increase productivity by eliminating the need to wait for expensive one-off tools to be manufactured

All MBM tools are usually available from stock in Switzerland and are competitively priced.

The system offers extremely precise tools which allow almost unlimited tool variations for milling, drilling, boring, jig boring and thread-cutting, by utilising the master shank with it's quick change coupling system, in conjunction with a wide range of the modular tooling components, to generate the most suitable tool for the required machining operation.

Reductions, extensions and heads are used in combinations to produce tooling suitably optimised to the machining application to be satisfied.

Rigidity - the MBM quick change coupling system offers maximum rigidity of the assembled tool due to high pre-loading forces and large bearing surfaces.

The quick change system can be fully utilised without the use of special tools.

It also allows maximum torque transmission without loss of modular interchangeability.

Accuracy High levels of quality control during all of the MBM tool manufacturing processes coupled with good design principles and close manufacturing tolerances ensure optimal running concentricity and minimal radial change error.

Modular Tool Options - with ISO type inserts for boring and milling Applications A wide range of modular tools fit into the master shank, including: Fine boring heads, in seven nominal sizes from 24mm to 153mm diameter Small hole boring heads, for machining a minimum bore size of 3mm A clear easily readable dial giving a precise 0.005mm radial movement of the boring tool or 0.001mm on the diametrical adjustment, on both types of the above precision boring heads.

Twin Cutter heads offer roughing and pre-finishing bore machining capacities from 20mm diameter up to 655m diameter, and fine boring heads are available with a matching counterweight for balanced fine boring facilities at these large diameters.

Master shanks with a VDI fitting are available for use on CNC turning centres and lathes, extending the use of the modular tooling to the production of tight tolerance bores on turned components.

Solid carbide boring bars from the MBM range making this a very important machining facility and feature, in the production of such components.

High speed applications - with an increasing demand for high speed milling and boring, the system is designed to offer master shanks with a balancing ring facility to enable machining to take place with minimum imbalance, thus extending cutting tool life and improving surface finish on the component being machined.

The MBM Modular Tooling System, it's applications and uses are described in detail in the technical catalogue available on request from PCM Tooling (UK) Ltd.

These tools will be on display on the PCM stand at MACH 2004.

MACH 2004 - April 19-23 - NEC Birmingham, UK.

Hall 4, Stand No 4651.
