Whirling heads use multi inserts in a high speed rotating head to cut screws in titanium and stainless steel quickly to precise tolerances - faster than using traditional single point methods.

The medical industry has always had a reputation for high-tech technology and accuracy, in exotic materials The ever-increasing demand on industry to produce screws for bone surgery and dental work prompted OMG from Italy, who are always looking for new machining solutions, to develop it's Thread Whirling system

Screws in titanium and stainless steel can be cut quickly to precise tolerances faster than using traditional single point methods.

The whirling heads employ multi inserts in a high speed rotating head presented to the work piece at an angle to the 'Z' axis.

The 'C' axis, or machine spindle, rotates slower while the whirling head moves in the 'Z' axis direction.

Coarse, deep threads can be produced in one hit.

Indexable, three edge inserts are changed in seconds making set up time quick and easy.

Long tapered threads present no problem.

Tool life is increased.

Surface finish is improved.

Designed with the whole range of Citizen machines in mind, from the M12 to the L20, PCM have a Whirling tool to satisfy your threaded components.
