Cost savings and increased efficiency in product handling can be made thanks to modifications to the Streamfeeder ST 1250 card feeder.
Suppliers to multiple retailers since 1984, Lighthorne Herbs said that the two de-nesters, which can operate at claimed speeds of up to 80 packs per minute, will provide pay back within 12 months on the company's Sainsbury's herb production.
PIP worked with Lighthorne to provide a flexible system that would replace a labour-intensive bagged herbs operation.
The POP de-nesters deliver plastic punnets to be filled with fresh herbs prior to being flow-wrapped.
Quick repeatable operator size changes are made using the removable Kwik clip frames, eliminating the need for operator adjustments to change tray size, said PIP.
According to Sam Turner, Lighthorne's operations director: "The de-nesters provide an efficient, flexible and cost-effective solution.
We had to re-think the type of packaging used to meet the demand of retail customers to save money and increase supply.
We chose the tray de-nesters from Partners in Packaging as they are proven to be the most flexible and reliable on the market.
The installation is helping us to increase production, whilst at the same time lowering labour costs.
We expect a return on our investment within a year.".
