PDM 2006 the designers choice

Plastics Design and Moulding (PDM 06), the UK event with a specific focus on the design and moulding of plastic products, will incorporate exciting features specifically aimed at the design community

The Design Resource Centre, an interactive area highlighting new plastic materials returns for a second consecutive year, whilst a new Design Consultants Showcase offers a platform for visitors to meet design consultancies and discuss specific projects and ideas.

This year the PDM Design Resource Centre will feature more materials which will be displayed in a striking 'cloud' of spheres.

The display, curated by product designer and author Chris Lefteri, will include over 300 samples from across the areas of packaging, engineering and advanced polymers that will allow visitors to look at, touch and feel a huge variety of plastics samples.

Located opposite the Design Resource Centre will be a Design Cafe where visitors inspired by the feature can relax or find space for thinking time out of the show mainstream.

Last year's Design Resource Centre drew warm praise from visitors.

According to Belinda Mason, Interior / Colour and Trim Designer at Land Rover in Gaydon, "It was an inspirational display with wonderful 'touchy feely' samples and superb company and source information".

"I have gone back time and time again to the information I collected from the Design Resource Centre.

The 'Design Consultants Showcase' is a new feature area at PDM and offers Design Consultancies the opportunity to take a cost-effective stand, providing an area for them to interact with the large number of OEMs and moulders that visit PDM.

Leading UK design consultancies that have already signed up for space at the show include DCA, Kinneir Dufort, Brightworks, Ecoflo Systems, Hymid and 3DI Consulting.

Exhibitor packages in the Design Consultants Showcase cost just GBP1495 and include a 6.25m shell-scheme stand, a table, two stools, lights and power.

PDM 06 takes place at the Telford International Centre on 26-28 September 2006.

It will feature three halls of value-for-money exhibition space, daily breakfast briefings and a full conference programme aimed at attracting a high-level audience from across the design and moulding sectors.

A number of other added value initiatives will also be taking place to enhance the event's pulling-power.
