"The PDS team has witnessed remarkable success in the last 6 months, particularly from our client base that have focussed on selling strategies." Over capacity in the West Midlands means that competition is fierce.
The region's manufacturing firms have had to be very good at cost control and account management to survive the manufacturing down turn over the last few years.
However, this battle has produced some strong companies who are now seeing signs of some growth for the first time in many years.
PDS believes as demand increases, price will still be a big factor and the region stands to gain over other regions due to its manufacturing expertise coupled with its competitive prices.
Chris Pitt, Director of Edwards Precision Engineering, a PDS client added: "Although price is the main competitive factor, it is our focus on sales that has driven improvements in turnover, for both new and current customers.
"We are confident that this will give rise to increased profitability this year." Pitt continued: "We do however foresee problems with the huge increase in steel prices.
Many companies will find no alternative but to pass this increase onto the customer.
This will undoubtedly affect future business, further increasing the need for unique selling strategies.".
