A range of single and two-part structural adhesives are capable of operating at continuous temperatures of up to 250 degC.

Bondmaster has developed a range of single and two-part structural adhesives that are capable of operating at continuous temperatures of up to 250 deg C, ideal for applications such as: The bonding of filter end caps where the filter will be repeatedly sterilised for use in food, beverage and pharmaceutical process plants Magnet bonding in general industrial, aerospace and electric motors where miniaturization and increased running speed and thus higher temperature performance is needed

Assembly of components, which then undergo powder coating.

Whilst resistance to aggressive chemicals comes as standard, Bondmaster ESP4116, ESP4582, E3152 and E3274 each have special individual qualities designed to cater for a broad range of end uses.

Bondmaster ESP4116 is a rapid cure, high-strength single-part epoxy, that can be used in F and DA (Food and Drug Administration) type applications.

A typical example is the bonding of filter end caps where the filter will be repeatedly sterilised.

Bondmaster rapid cure, single-part epoxy ESP4582 can set in as little as 30 seconds using induction heating.

This high-strength adhesive is ideally suited for the bonding of products requiring resistance to high temperatures and harsh chemicals in demanding applications such as in the aerospace market.

In the area of electric motors, ESP4582 is typically suited to bonding magnets onto stators or onto rotors in under- bonnet applications.

Bondmaster E3152 is a two-part epoxy with excellent high temperature performance and resistance to cracking over a wide temperature range.

E3152 has very low shrinkage on curing which makes it suitable for large castings.

It will operate in aggressive chemical environments, for example, in the beer filtration process where it can be used to mould large filter end caps.

Although Bondmaster E3274 will cure at room temperature, it is capable of operating over a much wider range of temperatures than other conventional cold-cured epoxies.

This two-part system will cure at a rate enabling large structures to be bonded and has a large gap fill capability.

It will bond neodymium-iron magnets onto rotors for high-speed motors where heat cure is unsuitable due to potential magnet damage.

Bondmaster E3274 demonstrates a performance of 7 N/mmę lap shear strength at 150 degC, which is above the requirements normally expected by adhesive specifiers.

"The trend towards smaller components operating at higher speeds in increasingly aggressive environments will put ever greater demands on structural engineering adhesives", says John Dubber, application development manager at Bondmaster.

"The continuous operating temperatures in many applications is forecast to rise over the next few years.

These high temperature adhesives that Bondmaster have developed will help design engineers create products to meet these needs.".
