A family of band saws are now fitted with 500mm wheels to increase the durability of the blades and prevent premature brakages of the blades during use.

PETRA DC300 family of band saws now come with 500 mm wheels - among the biggest in its category The modification was introduced to increase the durability of the blades

The fact that the size of the wheels is very important for the life of the blade had been neglected in many current designs.

Very often the customers experienced blade breakage before the blade had dulled.

The main reason for this that the blade wheels of the band saw were too small.

The producers of blades recommend the diameter of the wheel to be approximately 500 times the thickness of the blade.

The design of the machine allowed for increase of diameter from 400mm to 500mm.

The mass of the wheels increased consequently by more then 50% meeting another recommendation from blade producers - the heavier the better.

DC300 band saws are not only true-dual column bands saws, they can also effectively cut 300 x 300mm (square or round) material.

There is no need for machines with bigger declared capacities, which is often the practice, if the required capacity is 300mm or less.

PETRA Machines from Ljubljana, Slovenia introduced a new family of heavy duty, high performance true-dual column band saws.

Machines are based on Patent Pending solution for precise parallel movement of saw frame that eliminates the stick-slip effect on classical designs.

The semi-automatic DC300 ToolMaster, capable to use carbide tipped blades for cutting hard-to-cut materials, comes standard with laser-line pointer, hydraulic blade tensioning, automated feed control and infinitely variable blade speed.

The automatic version DC300A CutMaster adds automatic feed system with floating, self-adjusting shuttle vise feed system, split vise for clamping on both sides of the blade with adjustable clamping pressure, efficient chip removal with automated chip conveyor and other very convenient features.

Both machines attracted significant interest at the EMO 2005 exhibition in Hannover, Germany.
