Coupling design locks up fasteners
Instead of using nylon inserts or crimping the screw threads, fasteners use a simple coupling mechanism that acts as the positive stopping force to prevent nut loosening.
Nylon inserts have been used to constrict the internal diameter of nut threads.
These inserts increase friction between the bolt and nut threads thus resisting rotation of the nut.
Alternatively, it is known to simply crimp or deform the nut threads to increase rotational friction.
Unfortunately these methods do not provide a positive stopping force.
The Phil-Lok Fastener employs a simple yet unique coupling mechanism that acts as the positive stopping force, preventing nut loosening.
