Integrated vacuum gripper system (VGS) features Duraflex suction cups and patented Coax ejector technology.

PIAB, a global leader in industrial vacuum technology, offers the VGS 3010 (Vacuum Gripper System) as a flexible solution for automated material handling applications in the packaging industry Featuring a Duraflex suction cup and a Coax cartridge, the VGS 3010 is an extremely efficient solution that is designed to increase material handling reliability at higher speeds

This decentralised vacuum system allows for a reliable grip on porous surfaces, making it ideal for handling corrugated boxes and containers in a variety of applications such as carton erecting and palletizing.

Additionally, the product's flexible design eliminates the need for multiple end effectors when handling different shapes and sizes, which makes for quick and easy changeover and reduces downtime.

At the heart of the VGS 3010 system is Piab's patented Coax technology, which is based on a multi-stage concept for creating vacuum with compressed air.

Coax integrates the internal components of a multi-stage vacuum pump into a vacuum cartridge.

The result is a smaller, more efficient, more reliable and highly flexible technology that allows users to design a modular system.

With Coax technology, the highest possible picking speeds are achieved in rotary feeder and robot picker applications.

The VGS 3010's vacuum pump is integrated in a single unit, called a 'Gripper', which avoids the pressure loss problems inherent to traditional vacuum systems that utilise a centrally located vacuum pump.

Unlike competitive offerings, the VGS 3010 can function at operating pressures below 45 lb/in2, providing reliability even in the case of a breakdown in the air pressure network.

For additional support in cases of rapid movement, the VGS 3010 can be equipped with a 'stabiliser' that can be fitted around the suction cup for protection during lifts.

This accessory prevents the suction cup from coming loose, thereby retaining lifting force if transverse loads arise and threaten to break suction cups loose.
