Simplefit moves to digital hydraulic presses
In order to meet the increased demand and diversity of its customers' requirements, toolmaker and press shop Simplefit of Southampton has opted for the latest hydraulic presses.
Already the biggest British manufacturer of small- to medium-sized presses, Hare has been looking for a partner to complement its product range.
Mark Hull, sales and marketing director for Hare, explained: "Now we can supply large hydraulic presses for a much wider range of applications and capacities, our customers will benefit from a single point of purchase.
They can be confident that they will receive the levels of technical support and service that they are used to receiving when they buy a Hare press." Where Hare already provides presses and advanced assembly tooling for the final stages of many production processes including safety critical components such as brake and steering assemblies, the link up with a manufacturer of large presses means that it will now be able to supply presses at the start of the production process for the initial higher tonnage blanking, forming or roll feed operations where larger bed areas, capacities or offset loads have traditionally been outside their range.

R?cher's standard presses range between 1000kN and 16MN, whilst its biggest presses have a bed size of 3.6 metres.
The company also has the capacity to build special purpose machines rated above 2,000 tonnes and manufactures its own roll feed equipment and large decoilers, which are fully integrated into the press controls.
Hull added: "With our customer base including Nissan, Honda, Rolls Royce and many 1st tier automotive and aerospace companies, and our respected brand to protect, we needed to make certain that any company we associated ourselves with had the correct credentials.
Roecher's products, history and client portfolio sit perfectly with those of Hare." Both companies were founded in the 1940s - Hare in 1947 and Roecher in 1946.
Roecher's client base is equally impressive with Bosch, Mercedes, Continental and Federal Mogul as OEM customers.
Heiko Roecher, managing director of R?cher, explained the important factors behind the tie-up: "More manufacturers are turning to hydraulic presses as they learn to appreciate their versatility and the production benefits they can yield - particularly when faced with increased competition from emerging economies.
This versatility demands that the engineers working on potential applications need to be of extremely high-calibre.
Put simply, we wanted to team up with a company that spoke the same language - technically speaking!" With Hare regularly receiving enquiries for large presses and Roecher looking to expand its core client base beyond Germany and its near neighbours, the potential for both companies to benefit from the alliance is enormous.
