The new MD recognises that this will be a major change initiative for the whole company, and will require an unprecedented level of leadership over the coming months.
Born in Toronto, Pennycook has lived for most of his working life in various locations throughout the United States.
He joined Pactiv in March 2001 as Director of Technology for Protective Packaging North America, and was responsible for capital programmes, process improvement initiatives and product development for the North American organisation.

Ten months later, Pennycook took on the role of Director of Operations with responsibility for all the protective packaging divisions throughout Europe.
In March 2005, he was appointed Managing Director for Western Europe with full PandL responsibility for the Western Europe business, before taking over the helm at Jiffy Packaging in January 2006.
Pennycook and his family will be relocating to the UK early in 2006.
This will be the ninth move for the family over the past 15 years, so they have plenty of experience of getting used to a new environment.
He says, "My family are excited about living in another new culture, making new friends and of course enjoying the fine weather that North West England has to offer." All in all, Pennycook has a clear view of the challenges facing the company and has very strong ideas of how he will lead the company in meeting them.
But really, somebody should tell him about the weather in the North West!.
