Matting helps to avoid falls from
mortuary roof

Howards Hall Hospital, Dudley, has installed Crossgrip safety matting to form safe access walkways on the flat roof of the new mortuary block that was found to be extremely slippery when wet.

Working at height can be dangerous especially in bad weather and at extreme height Another problem, as Howards Hall Hospital, Dudley, discovered, is that some flat roofing membranes are extremely slippery when wet

Fortunately, this hazard on the roof of the hospital's new mortuary block was easily overcome by using Crossgrip safety matting from Plastic Extruders to form safe access walkways.

Crossgrip safety matting, made with flexible 100 per cent PVC, is widely used on flat roofs, gantries and high-level walkways for maintenance access and to protect the roof covering.

The deeply etched open-grid surface provides permanent high-slip-resistance and safety even in the worst weather conditions.

The matting is self-draining, resistant to bacterial growth and maintenance-free.

Because of its flexible construction, it is easy to lay and contour and, importantly, as new wind tunnel tests prove, it is permanently stable even in hurricane-force winds.

The matting is supplied in 10m rolls and standard widths of 60, 91 and 122cm.

Crossgrip is one of several safety mattings manufactured by Plastic Extruders.
